Delosperma echinatum (commonly known as Pickle Plant or Pickle Cactus) is a charming, low-growing succulent native to South Africa. This unique plant is best known for its small, cylindrical, bright green leaves that are covered in soft, white, spine-like hairs, giving them a fuzzy and "bristly" appearance—resembling tiny pickles, hence the nickname.
Habitat: Suited to bright, dry environments. Will not tolerate cold temperatures or high humidity.
Light: Bright, direct light for 4 -5 hours daily.
Water: Water only once soil has dried out completely and do not allow to sit in water. If leaves begin to wrinkle it's an obvious sign the plant needs water.
Soil: Use a well-draining, porous growing medium to keep excess moisture away from the roots. Standard cactus potting mixes are sufficient for echeverias.
Fertiliser: Occasional fertilizing during spring and summer can be beneficial, but not necessary.
