Monstera adansonii, commonly known as the Monkey Mask Monstera, is recognised for its thin, heart-shaped leaves punctuated by distinctive oval fenestrations that appear from an early stage of growth. Unlike Monstera deliciosa, the leaf margins remain intact, with the perforations enclosed within the blade. This naturally climbing species produces long, flexible stems with aerial roots that attach to nearby surfaces, allowing the foliage to become larger and more deeply fenestrated as the plant matures.
