Hoya 'Mathilde' is a charming hybrid of Hoya carnosa and Hoya serpens, combining the best characteristics of both parent species. It produces small, rounded leaves with a subtle heart-like shape, often dusted with silver flecking that becomes more pronounced under bright conditions. The thick, semi-succulent foliage grows along slender trailing vines, creating a dense, cascading habit. As the plant matures, it may produce clusters of softly fragrant, star-shaped flowers with a fuzzy texture and glossy, nectar-filled centres—one of the defining features of the Hoya genus.

  • Habitat: Mathilde is happy in average household temperatures and will enjoy higher humidity in the summer months.
  • Light: Likes bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight may burn leaves.
  • Water: Like most plants, over-watering will cause root rot. Allow soil to dry between each watering.
  • Soil: Will be happy in a bark/peat-based soil mixed with an orchid mix through it to help create a free-draining medium.
  • Fertiliser: Will benefit from the application of a balanced plant fertiliser during peak growth periods.
