Aglaonema pictum is a distinctive foliage plant, recognised for its extraordinary camouflage-patterned leaves, where irregular patches of light and dark green mimic the forest floor of its native habitat. Native to the rainforests of Sumatra, this slow-growing species has evolved its unique leaf pattern as a form of natural camouflage. Each leaf develops its own intricate markings, making every plant subtly different.
Habitat: Prefers a warm, humid environment. Keep out of draughts or sudden temperature changes.
Light: Moderate indirect light or low light. Keep away from direct sunlight.
Water: Water when top inch or two of soil is dry. Be careful not to overwater, Agalonema prefers slightly moist soil but can suffer root rot if left in standing water.
Soil: Use a peat-based soil. Allow to drain. Yellowing leaves or soft stalks are a sign of overwatering.
Fertiliser: Will benefit from the application of a balanced plant fertiliser during peak growth periods.
Please note: Variegated plants vary between and within crops. While we attempt to maintain growing conditions, no guarantees can be made around the volume of variegation per plant. The picture of this plant is indicative only, as we see with all plant species, every plant is unique.
