Streptocarpus, commonly known as Cape Primrose, is admired for its rosettes of soft, velvety foliage and its remarkable flowering habit. Slender stems rise above the leaves, carrying trumpet-shaped blooms that appear in a wide range of colours and can flower repeatedly over many months. Native to the shaded forests and rocky slopes of southern Africa, Streptocarpus is prized for its ability to produce an abundance of flowers from a compact plant.

Please note: Flowers and colours are picked at random and are subject to availability

  • Habitat: To keep your plant flowering, cut spent blooms off at the base of stem.
  • Light: Requires medium to bright, indirect light.
  • Water: Keep the soil moist, but do not over-water. Like most plants, over-watering will cause root rot.
  • Soil: A well draining potting mix is recommended.
  • Fertiliser: When in flowering season fertilise with a high nitrogen and potassium fertiliser.
