Strelitzia Reginae 14cm Pot Plant

Strelitzia reginae, commonly known as the Bird of Paradise, is celebrated for its bold, architectural foliage and its extraordinary flowers, which resemble the head of a brightly coloured bird in flight. The upright, paddle-shaped leaves emerge from a clumping base on long, sturdy stalks, creating a sculptural form even when the plant is not in bloom. Mature specimens produce the iconic orange and blue flowers from boat-shaped bracts, with each bloom designed to attract pollinators through a specialised flowering structure unique to the genus.

Habitat: Can grow up to 3m tall. Prefers higher humidity and warmer temperatures. Avoid sudden temperature changes or draughts. If outside, protect from frost in Winter.
Light: Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Ideal for bright, indirect indoor light.
Water: Water regularly during the Spring and Summer, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering in Winter.
Soil: Prefers well-draining soil. When re-potting, use a mix of soil, sand and peat moss for best results.
Fertiliser: Will benefit from the application of a balanced plant fertiliser during peak growth periods.
