Monstera deliciosa is one of the most recognisable aroids, celebrated for its dramatic, deeply fenestrated leaves that become increasingly divided as the plant matures. Young plants produce entire, heart-shaped leaves, while mature foliage develops the iconic splits and perforations that are thought to help the leaves withstand heavy rainfall and strong winds in nature. As a climbing species, it produces thick aerial roots that anchor the stems to vertical surfaces, allowing the foliage to increase significantly in size as it grows. Under favourable conditions, mature plants may also produce their unusual, edible fruit, from which the species takes its name, deliciosa.

  • Fertiliser: Will benefit from the application of a balanced plant fertiliser during peak growth periods.
