Chamaedorea elegans, commonly known as the Parlour Palm, is a graceful, slow-growing palm recognised for its slender stems and finely divided, feather-like fronds. New fronds emerge as tightly folded spears before gradually unfurling into elegant arching foliage, creating a soft, layered canopy. Unlike many larger palms, its naturally compact habit and clumping growth make it one of the most enduring and recognisable indoor palm species, prized for its refined texture and timeless appearance.
Habitat: Can grow up to 2m tall.
Light: Bright, indirect light; tolerant of lower light levels well.
Water: Prefers moderately moist, but not wet soil. Wait until the top few centimeters of soil is dry before watering.
Fertiliser: Will benefit from the application of a balanced plant fertiliser during peak growth periods.
